The conversational tone is perfect for those who are exploring what veganism is all about and would maybe like to have some fun while on this tasty adventure. When Veganomicon appeared a decade ago, it captured a new and, dare we say it, happy-go-lucky approach to vegan cooking. It is written with a breezy sense of humor that will make readers of all dietary disciplines feel right at home, yet it's not so preciously perky that you'll wanna chuck it out the window. Any time I talk to someone about vegan cooking, I always end up talking about this book. Ingredients are exotic enough to require access to a few specialty groceries or a coop, but not so insane that you can't make these recipes in a small town. The book is well organized and easy to use, with ingredients conveniently listed in the order you use them. My family’s favorite dinners include the amazing cashew ricotta in the lasagne marinara with spinach, smoky grilled tempeh, pasta della California, and snobby joes. Veganomicon contains a collection of vegan recipes, with advice on stocking the vegan pantry, equipment, and cooking techniques and options for appetizers, breakfast, salads, soups, casseroles, one-pot meals, pasta, breads, cookies, and desserts.
